Junction is an app that allows you to communicate anonymously with people around you. You can compliment people, start discussion, ask someone a question etc all without putting yourself on the line to potentially be embarrassed.
There is such a stigma attached to cold approaching people that it creates fear when someone is thinking about talking to a stranger. With this app, the potential for embarrassment/fear is removed, which leads to a higher potential for social interactions between future friends/possible significant others.
Also, it allows for a new, unique way to spend your time on the train.
